Netflix's latest horror release has left fans "jumping out of their skin".

Cruel Peter, which dropped on the streaming site last month, follows the ghost of a 13-year-old boy come back to haunt his hometown, and it's already giving Hereditary a run for its money with fans declaring it "creepy af".

The plot sees "a teen tapping into the supernatural to connect with her late mother [who] becomes possessed when she accidentally resurrects the soul of a sadistic bully." You can watch the trailer here:

Is it just us, or is the plot giving you serious Exorcist vibes?

As for the mysterious "bully", he turns out to be the ghost of a 13-year-old English boy (the titular Peter) living in 1908 Italy who is notorious for being cruel towards children, servants and even animals.

He gets his comeuppance when he finds himself ambushed and buried alive in a coffin as the city is shaken to the ground by a powerful earthquake.

It's safe to say the movie is already making waves, with one horror buff confessing: "Just watched a Netflix film Cruel Peter. Absolutely s**t myself! Now need to watch something happy before bed."

Another tweeted: "Watched Cruel Peter at NIGHT. Big mistake," while one said they'd "jumped out of their skin" from watching the trailer alone.

Yup, it's safe to say we'll be watching this one with the lights on.

The movie was produced by Makinarium, Rai Cinema and Taadaaa Entertainment and was originally released on 6th February, dropping on Netflix just four months later. Within days it was listed among Netflix UK's top ten most popular movies.
