Fans of true crime will be able to get a first-hand look at the most dramatic events to ever happen in a courtroom with the return of a TV documentary looking at some of the most notorious trials in US history.

The second series of Court Cam continues on Crime + Investigation in August and takes viewers inside America's most dramatic courtroom moments.

The shocking documentary reveals frightening outbursts and furious judges, with a first-hand look at the dramatic events that happen inside the courtroom.

Hosted by Dan Abrams, we can also expect interviews with judges and witnesses, as well as with some of the victims, giving us an insight into the crimes behind these courtroom appearances.

Meanwhile bystanders will also give an account of witnessing the terrifying events.

Dramatic moments of the eight-episode first series included a death-defying escape attempt by a defendant and a judge taking off his robe when a defendant got unruly.

Further episodes showed a criminal who tried to get out of trouble by singing, and the story of a judge who chased down defendants trying to make an escape.

More shocking moments in the series included a criminal brandishing an unlikely weapon, while a man appearing in court got to meet his son for the first time.

The show is executive produced by Dan Abrams, who also hosts A&E series Live PD and is the chief legal analyst for ABC News. Earlier this year, the popular show was given the green light for a second series.

In a statement for Court Cam, Abrams said: "I have covered trials for my entire career, and even I was stunned by many of these remarkable courtroom moments... then getting to talk to the people involved from heroes to victims was as enlightening as it was humbling".

Court Cam season two will air on Crime + Investigation on Fridays at 10pm and 10.30pm.
