Reboot culture has officially reached fever-pitch: a Clueless TV series in the works.

Yep, rumour has it the 90s cult teen comedy is being reimagined by CBS TV, and the little we do know about it sounds like we're in for a stylistic sugar rush of sorts.

According to Deadline, the new Clueless is a "Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo music video" affair which centres on Cher Horowitz' best friend Dionne Davenport (played by Stacy Dash in the 1995 original).

It's described as a "baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté and Adderall-fueled" take on what happens when Cher (famously played by Alicia Silverstone originally) disappears and Dionne "steps into [her] vacant Air Jordans."

Set in a "uniquely 2020 L.A", the series will see Dionne navigate the pressures of being the new popular girl in school, while tackling the mystery of what happened to her best friend.

While details on casting, and release date remain tight, the series has reportedly garnered a lot of interest from the key streamers.

The Clueless TV series appears to have pipped an entirely different Clueless remake to the post.

Earlier this year, we learnt Girls Trip writer Tracy Y. Oliver was set to produce a cinematic remake, with a script by GLOW writer Marquita Robinson.

Oliver spoke about the project in June, telling Vulture it was a "reimagining" of the film, centring on "a 2019 or a 2020 version of a group of teens that would be the Clueless for this generation."

The original movie, which has now become a classic among 90s babies, starred Alicia Silverstone as Cher, Stacy Dash as Dionne, Paul Rudd as her socially conscious stepbrother Josh, and the late Brittany Murphy, who plays the 'tragically unhip' new girl Tai.

Loosely based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, the film saw spoiled Valley Girl Cher navigate her social status, school and burgeoning love life.
