It's Officially Not Too Early To Start Watching Festive Films, According To A Poll

Is it bad to say we started in July?

Bonfire Night has wrapped in the UK, and we've now rocketed into our second lockdown - with many of us only having Christmas to look forward to.

It may only be the early days of November, but to lift our spirits, many are turning to festive films earlier than usual.

But how early is too early? We asked readers at Tyla whether it was too soon to start tuning into some of our Yuletide favourites.

Thankfully, (to spare our blushes) 66.1 per cent of respondents said it's not too soon to stick on a Christmas film.

And some of us are particularly hardcore when it comes to re-watching some festive favourites - with seven per cent of respondent saying they started flicking through movies back in July.

It's a topic that has often stirred up fierce debate - while some people are adamant that you shouldn't watch things until December, others are happy to watch a Christmas movie whenever they fancy it.

One Reddit thread saw several conflicting opinions, while one person said "there's never a wrong time to watch Die Hard", another argued: "My personal rule is mid-November to Christmas Day. That's the season for me and I can't really dig on Christmas movies outside of that period unless the movie has Christmas as a tertiary theme."

The general consensus saw people on the whole agree that after Thanksgiving (which takes place this year on Thursday 26th November) is the most acceptable time.

But after the incredibly difficult year everyone has had, what with coronavirus and lockdown, it's safe to say all rules are now out the window.

Earlier this week, a poll by Ranker found that Home Alone is the best 90's Christmas movie of all time.

The Santa Clause came in second, while Tim Burton's Chrimbo-Halloween classic The Nightmare Before Christmas took third place.
