Chris Lilley Wants To Do A Mr G Series And We Are So Here For It
Summer Heights High fans will back us in saying that Chris Lilley is one the best comedy character creators of our generation.
In the hit 2008 mockumentary alone, he blessed us with Ja'mie King, Jonah Takalua and - disputably the greatest of all - Mr G.
Mr G (or officially Helen "Greg" Gregson) was the 36-year-old drama teacher at the fictional Australian high school.
We laughed along as he taught a disinterested group of teenagers with delusions of genius, cringed as he writhed around on the floor in the middle of class, and watched behind our hands as he masterminded the the schools most un-PC productions.
(Let's not forget this is the man behind 'Tsunamarama', a play based on the events of the 2004 tsunami disaster, set to the music of Bananarama.) Christ.
Anyway, you couldn't help by love the character - so it's exciting then that a Mr G spin-off series could be coming!
Yes, creator Chris Lilley hinted at the news during a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread, when one fans asked Lilley if he would ever do a Mr G spin-off.
"Yeah probs. They'll all come back eventually," he replied.
Other fan then asked if he would be reboots Summer Heights High, and he replied: "Yeah I loved that show too and would like to in some form. Ja'mie: Private School Girl and Jonah From Tonga were Summer Heights High spin offs but there could be more..."
We don't know about you, but this sounds about as close to a confirmation without being an official confirmation. The dot dot dot always means something.
With two of the series' three characters getting a spin-off BAR Mr G, it only seems right for him to get his own show. And it goes without saying we would be tuning in.
P.S. 'Naughty Girl' remains one of the best song EVER.
