The tree-part special, titled Bulletproof: South Africa, follows Aaron and Ronnie as they take a much needed holiday from their London day-jobs and travel to Cape Town, South Africa.

The vacation does not go smoothly. While trying to relax after a tough year, Bishop, Pike and his family soon find themselves caught up in the frightening kidnapping of a young girl. Having befriended the young girl's parents earlier that day, Bishop and Pike decide it's their duty to use their expertise to help the couple win their daughter back.

The kidnappers demand an unreasonable reward for the safe return of the girl, but have no idea who they are now up against.

Taking inspiration from buddy-cop film franchises like Lethal Weapon and Bad Boys, the show's protagonists are childhood friends from very different backgrounds. It has been a huge hit for Sky and fans have been waiting patiently for more adventures.

The show premiered in 2018 and on the day the last episode aired, Sky confirmed another batch had been ordered. The second series wrapped earlier this year.

Ronnie is from a middle-class family with a history in the police. His father works as the Director-General of the National Crime Agency. Aaron, however, spent his childhood in foster homes and on the streets.

In August 2019 Sky announced a three-part special would take Aaron and Ronnie on a trip to South Africa.

Paul Gilbert, Executive Producer for Sky, said: "We're really excited to see TV's favourite cop duo back in action, but transported from the mean streets of London to one of the most beautiful coastlines on the planet.

Bulletproof: South Africa is to air on Sky One on Wednesday 20 January 2021 and will also be available on streaming service and NOW TV.
