Last year, Sky One aired Bulletproof and it went down a storm.

The first TV episode was the most watched out of any show on the channel that year, and social media instantly went mad demanding it was brought back for a second season.

Centring around best friends and undercover police detectives Aaron Bishop (Noel Clarke) and Ronnie Pike Jr. (Ashely Walters), the show - also written by the pair - sees them tackling some of the country's most infamous criminals, infiltrating drug deals, catching traffickers and busting armed robbers.

Now, the second season is finally almost upon us, and if you love Top Boy or any other gritty British crime dramas then you'll definitely want to catch up before it hits screens.

Following on from the last season, the next six parter will take things to a whole new level, and see Bishop and Pike going undercover to infiltrate an international crime empire.

Sky promises: "Their chase for justice will take them from the streets of London to Amsterdam and Cyprus, where they will have to risk everything including their police badges to succeed."

We can't wait.

The return of Clarke and Walters' series is set to excite many loyal fans, especially seeing as the first season was praised by many for casting two black men in its protagonist role.

"It's groundbreaking because we haven't really had a show in Britain with two black male leads who are positively represented," Clarke told indiewire at the time.

"The bigger shows here that feature black men are always in stereotypical roles, like drug dealers, gang members, or just generally engaged in criminal activity.

"In our show, they are black male role models, one of whom is married and actually has a black wife, who is a lawyer, which is just not something you see in this country, even in 2019."

If you haven't seen the first series, now's the time to binge it.

Bulletproof is returning to Sky One for series 2 in early 2020.
