Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of our favourite 90s teen dramas and just like most of the amazing shows from that genre, Buffy experienced her very own love triangle throughout the show's seven seasons.

Original series star David Boreanaz, who played Angel, has given his two cents on one of the most important Buffy-related questions that fans have always debated... who was the right man for Buffy - Boreanaz's Angel or Spike (played by James Marsters)?!

The show originally finished airing in 2003 but it is clearly a topic of debate, especially for US politician Stacey Abrams who resurrected the question last month.

Abrams tweeted: "To be fair, Angel was the right boyfriend for Buffy coming into her power. Spike was the right man to be with as she became the power."

After hearing about Abrams preferring Spike over Angel as Buffy's one true love, Boreanaz shared his own opinion with The Wrap.

Unsurprisingly, Boreanaz fully supports Angel, his own character.

"All I'll say is this, man: True love is first love and first love is true love. Drop the mic. End of story," he said.

"I don't think we need to continue. I mean, it's pretty simple, right? Let's think about that for really a second. Your first love is your true love, your true love is your first love. End of story."

Boreanaz then added: "All due respect, Stacey Abrams, I disagree. But you know, hey, you're coming from the character's mouth here. I think I'll be the final word on it."

Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow, also chipped in. She chose her own character over both Angel and Spike!

"Actually Buffy should have dated Willow," Hannigan tweeted last month.
