Here's What Happens In Bridgerton After The First Book

There’s more love and lust to be had in Regency London.

If you're like us, you drank Bridgerton down in one sitting after the racy Regency show dropped on Netflix on Christmas Day.

The dating misadventures of Daphne Bridgerton as she navigates the tense marriage market have been hugely popular among fans, as is the show's breakout star Regé-Jean Page - who plays spoon-licking enthusiast and delectably dishy Duke of Hastings.

While there's currently no word from Netflix on whether Bridgerton will be back for a second season, you can still get your 19th century fix by reading the Julia Quinn novels that Bridgerton was based on.

And there's plenty to get stuck in to, with Julia having nine books following the escapades of the Bridgerton family and the eight tight-knit siblings.

Be warned, however, there are *spoilers ahead.*

Julia's first book, The Duke and I, is what formed the basis of the first series of Bridgerton, and followed Daphne as she looked for a husband.

The second novel, The Viscount Who Loved Me, focuses on eldest son Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey in the TV series.

Set a year after the events of The Duke and I, Anthony has decided to give up his rakish ways, and has chosen himself a wife. However, Anthony's reputation as a rogue precedes him, seeing his betrothed's older sister, Kate Sheffield desperately trying to put a stop to the match.

As always, the path to true love never did run smooth, with Anthony and Kate finding themselves increasingly drawn to one another.

The third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, is a Cinderella-style story which sees the lowly Sophie Beckett, once daughter of an earl relegated to the role of servant, sneak into the famous Bridgerton Masqerade Ball - and fall head over heels for young Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson).

Penelope Featherington is the focus in Romancing Mister Bridgerton (
Netflix)

Romancing Mister Bridgerton sees Penelope Featherington (Derry Girls' Nicola Coughlan) decide to act on her romantic feelings towards Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), while To Sir Phillip, With Love sees fan favourite Eloise (Claudia Jesse) fall for the perfectly imperfect Sir Phillip Crane.

The later series of books focus on the younger Bridgertons. When He Was Wicked sees infamous rake Michael Stirling fall hard and fast for Francesca Bridgerton (played by Ruby Stokes) just days before her marriage to his cousin.

Meanwhile, It's In His Kiss sees gobby and book smart Hyacinth Bridgerton (Florence Hunt) engage in a tete-a-tete with Gareth St. Clair. On The Way To The Wedding follows hopeless romantic Gregory Bridgerton as he falls in love with Hermione Watson, but also has an alliance with Lady Lucinda Abernathy.

The very final book, Happily Ever After, sees eight sexy, funny, and heart-warming "second epilogues," seeing what the Bridgerton clan got up to after they all found their betrothed.

So if you're hankering for another Bridgerton fix, you've got plenty to dig through...
