AWKWARD.

Last night, Brad Pitt scooped the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, but it was his acceptance speech that had the audience gasping in shock.

The 56-year-old even left the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge red-faced, after making a witty jibe about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down as senior members of the royal family.

Due to 'family obligations', Brad had to swerve the awards ceremony at the last minute and asked Once Upon A Time In Hollywood co-star, Margot Robbie, to read out his acceptance speech on his behalf.

And things got a *little* bit awkward when Brad referred to Prince Harry and Meghan's move overseas.

After thanking co-stars as well as director of the movie, Quentin Tarantino, Margot - who looked pretty embarrassed t be reading the gag - said: "He also said that he's gonna name this Harry because he's really excited about bringing it back to the States with him."

Cue a lot of shocked gasps and glances in Kate and Will's direction - who appeared to find the gag pretty funny as they clapped and nodded along.

"His words, not mine!" Added Margot.

If that wasn't awks enough, Brad even slipped in a joke about Brexit and referred to his experience of divorce - again.

"'Hey Britain. I heard you just became single. Welcome to the club. Wishing you the best with the divorce settlement now blah blah blah'," said Margot.

Viewers watching at home found the whole thing hilarious, with several taking to Twitter to have a giggle at Brad's jokes.

One wrote: "The BAFTAs showing William and Kate after Margot said Brad is going to name [his] award Harry because he's excited about bringing it back to America is going to go down in award history #BAFTAs."

But Brad wasn't the only one to take a swipe at the royals.

Rebel Wilson also made reference to some of the Royal Family's recent drama.

Referring to the BAFTAs being held at the Royal Albert Hall, the 39-year-old actress said: "It is really great to be here at the Royal Andrew... Er, er...

"Royal Harry, erm... at this royal place."

Talk about an awkward evening for Kate and Will...
