Bird Box is the latest Netflix original the internet is obsessing over, and it's now inspired fans to take part in a new challenge.

For those who aren't familiar, the film sees Oscar Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock and her two children trying to survive as a mysterious force wipes out an entire population.

If you see this evil entity with your own eyes, you'll die. Sandra's character Malorie Shannon takes her two children on a perilous journey down a river to safety while completely blindfolded to escape death.

Here's the official synopsis: "When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain -- if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears.

"Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they'll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them -- and complete the trip blindfolded."

Viewers have been donning their own blindfolds.

And this new Netflix-born challenge sees people trying to complete everyday tasks while completely blindfolded just like in the flick.

Social media has been flooded with hilarious snippets and posts of people reenacting the dramatic scenes in their everyday lives in the viral Bird Box challenge.

From hitting the gym to walking the dog in the back garden, the uncoordinated results are bound to be the perfect back-to-work pick-me-up if you are in need of a laugh:

Obviously, make sure you're not going to end up hurting yourself all in the name of memes.

Bird Box has been a huge hit this festive period, with Netflix subscribers choosing the film over some of their favourite Christmas movies.

The streaming giant revealed that Bird Box had the best seven days in terms of viewing numbers of all Netflix films ever in a tweet.

"Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box - best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!" it announced at the end of the first week.
