*The Pale Horse spoilers ahead*
They say the mark of a good actor is being able to slide between entirely different roles with ease, appearing unrecognisable from one to the next - and if so, Bertie Carvel deserves all the trophies.

Most will know the 42-year-old actor from hit BBC drama Doctor Foster, where he played the the suave and hunky - albeit punchable - Simon Foster.
We hated the character, but we all sort of fancied him - a complex set of emotions achieved only by some A class acting on Carvel's part.
That's why we've been thrown further into emotional turmoil at Bertie's latest performance in thriller The Pale Horse.

Sorry, THAT IS NOT THE SAME MAN.
In the gritty Agatha Christie adaptation, which concluded on Sunday night, the actor plays creepy trench coat-clad killer Zachariah Osborne. He was barely recognisable in role, with his nasal voice, hunched back and terrible prosthetic teeth.
To be honest, we're still not entirely convinced it's him, and it seems we weren't the only ones.

Viewers took to Twitter in their droves, with some calling the actor a "shapeshifter".
"@bertiecarvel is such a great actor. Hard to comprehend he's the original Miss Trunchbull, the suave baddie in Doctor Foster and now this character in #ThePaleHorse. The teeth!," wrote one viewer.
"Is @bertiecarvel an actual shapeshifter?!!! Just finished #palehorse and gone 'd'oh'," said another.

"You know what's going to wake me up at 3am going over all the threads? That is. That and Bertie Carvel's teeth. #ThePaleHorse," penned a third.

It's not the first time the actor has proved to be a chameleon. Back in 2011, he trod the boards as Miss Trunchbull in West End play Matilda.
Bertie Carvel, please throw away those fake teeth and never wear them again.
