BBC Three's 'Glow Up' Is Returning For Series Two

Excuse us while we practice our smoky eye in preparation...

We never imagined watching two people attempting the perfect feline flick to an egg timer could make for such tense viewing, but Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star gave us exactly that with its debut season.

The reality show, which saw a group of aspiring makeup artists compete in a range of challenges to win the top prize of assisting the world's leading MUAs, was a hit when it aired on BBC Three earlier this year. And guess what? It's back for a second series!

Hosted by Stacey Dooley, the second series is sure to feature all of the same cut crease-based drama as a host of new hopefuls will take on challenges to make a name for themselves in the industry. We'll also see the return of the ruthless but lovable industry icons and show judges, Val Garland and Dominic Skinner.

The first series saw 10 amateur MUAs take on professional assignments and creative tasks such as assisting backstage on fashion week shows, creating looks to feature in magazines, working on looks for the cast of Kinky Boots, painting the faces of supermodels such as Leomie Anderson and creating drag looks.

Ellis Hill was crowned the winner of series one, and his accolade has since seen him on Val Garland's team at Cannes Film Festival, assisting with red carpet looks for celebrities. Pretty cool, huh?

Show host Stacey Dooley says: "We had so much fun filming the last series of Glow Up, so to be back for another with the legends Val and Dominic is a dream come true. I was blown away by the talent and creativity last time and it was a pleasure to be part of the journey. I can't wait to get to know the new MUAs!"

Makeup maestro and Glow Up judge Val Garland says: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be back for the second series. I'm looking forward to all the creativity and drama, and of course I can't wait to work with Stacey and Dom again!

"I'll be looking for skills, imagination and professionalism in the MUAs, as well as how they work in a team and how they react and resolve when things go wrong. Glow Up is a life changing experience and I wish each and every one of the hopefuls the very best of luck."

Second judge Dominic Skinner adds: "I'm so excited to get back into the Glow Up HQ with Val and Stacey and to see what incredible looks will be created. The new artists coming through those doors will really have to bring it, as last year's MUAs blew me away with their talent and set the bar so high."

Fiona Campbell, Controller of BBC Three, says: "The first series of Glow Up was a real hit with our audience and brought something fresh and new to BBC Three. It was filled with creativity and had a spirit of fun and self expression. Developing formats that can return is part of our DNA and it was a no brainer to bring this back for more."

But first thing's first: Glow Up are still looking for hopefuls to take part in the second series, so if makeup is your thing and you think you can do a smoky eye like no other, applications are open here.

We can barely wait.
