Let's hope horror fans are ready for the next installment of The Conjuring series, as Annabelle returns for a third film in the spin-off series. James Wan's haunted Victorian doll will return for the third time in Annabelle Comes Home.

An 11-second teaser trailer has just dropped, but sadly it has done nothing more than tell us the title of the third installment - but even that is enough to get horror fans' senses tingling.

The teaser features a retro cinema projector, which may or may not be a subtle nod to the theme of the forthcoming film.

All we know so far is that Annebelle Comes Home is set after the time the doll was placed in the protagonist's museum, but before the Easter egg of Annabelle was spotted in Aquaman, floating in the ocean, Hypebeast reports.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will return once again as Lorraine and Ed Warren, while Gary Dauberman - the writer of the past two films - directs. James Wan continues to produce the franchise.

Annabelle Comes Home isn't the only new addition to the interconnected franchise, as Wan prepares to release Curse of La Llorona, which also loosely connects to the billion dollar franchise.

Warner Bros.

Speaking with Bloody Disgusting, the director of the first two films, James Wan, revealed: "All The Conjuring films are based on the case files, so they're more based on the true story aspect of the real life Warrens.

"I think that's important. It's important that the mothership stays true to the inspiration of the real people.

"The spinoffs are where we get to have more fun and do weird and wonderful crazy things. The mothership of it being The Conjuring films, we want it to come back to the real stuff."

Thankfully, fans of the franchise don't have too long to wait, as Annebelle Comes Home is set to launch in cinemas worldwide on Friday 28th June 2019.
