Netflix has just dropped a full trailer for American Son, a film that centres around a black woman trying to find her missing son but who comes up against police prejudices in the process. It looks seriously intense.
The trailer shows mum, Kendra, desperately trying to get the help she needs to find her son who hasn't come home, from a policeman in a South Florida police station.
It is of course all set on a rainy evening, which only adds to the mood and as it unfolds, and shows worried Kendra get increasingly agitated with the judgment and assumptions made about her family.
Adapted from a Broadway show in the US, the film - which is due to land on Netflix on November 1st - looks set to explore issues of race and bias in policing, something that still a hot topic all over the world, particularly in the US.
It will star four of the original cast members from the stage, including Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale as well as the original director, Kenny Leon.
Steven will reprise his stage role as dad of the missing boy, Scott, who is separated from Kendra and arrives late to the police station.
The trailer sees him treated differently by the police officer, which seems to be due to the fact he's white.
Speaking out about American Son in a feature, Kerry said: "One of the best things that has ever happened in my life is the opportunity to work on this story.
"It is something I am really proud of because the material is so important. There are people all over the world where these issues of unconscious bias and race are very much alive and present and when we spend 90 minutes with these parents, we realise this issue is an issue that belongs to all of us."
American Son will drop onto Netflix on November 1st.
