When it comes to film remakes, there's always going to be some criticism, which is why it comes as no surprise Will Smith has been mocked for his role as the Genie in Disney's Aladdin remake.

In the first pictures released on the new film, they showed a human Will Smith with not a trace of blue on his skin. But the actor reassured fans that if they wait, he will deliver a blue Genie in due course.

Now some fans seemingly wish they'd never asked after the brand new trailer revealed Will's Genie in all his blue glory.

Most fans mocked the Pursuit of Happiness star while others said it was the stuff of nightmares, although one fan added: "This is the best thing to happen in 2019 so far."

According to many, the special effects in the film trailer didn't appear to be finished but thankfully the film isn't out until May so there's plenty of time to get that Genie up to scratch.

Will posted the trailer on his Instagram along with an image of the finished blue Genie, telling his followers: "I told y'all I was gon' be Blue!! Y'all need to trust me more often!"

After Will revealed himself as the blue Genie, one fan tweeted: "It turns out that Will Smith's Aladdin Genie will haunt my nightmares."

A second added: "I'll never sleep again and it's all Will Smith's fault."

The trailer for Guy Ritchie's film was shown for the first time during the Grammy Awards as it shows Aladdin searching for the lamp in the Cave of Wonders.

The Aladdin reboot is set to hit cinema screens on 24th May 2019.
