A Quiet Place 3 is officially in the works, as Paramount Pictures have announced they are working on the third film in the franchise right now.
Yep, according to Deadline, the movie is based on an original idea from none other than John Krasinski himself.
And it must be a good'n, because they've now hired Midnight Special and Take Shelter writer Jeff Nichols to pen and direct the film.

The Office star Krasinski famously co-wrote, directed and starred in the first movie from the horror franchise, and also directed its upcoming sequel.
You'll remember that A Quiet Place follows the Abbott family - made up of parents Evelyn (Emily Blunt), Lee (John Krasinski) and their kids Regan (Millicent Simmonds), and sons Marcus (Noah Jupe) and Beau (Cade Woodward) - as they seek to survive in a world riddled with terrifying monsters.
These monsters have an acute sense of hearing, and the problem is, if they hear you - you are hunted down and almost certainly killed.

One of the reasons the family manage to survive is because they all know sign language, due to Regan being diagnosed as deaf. Convenient, eh?
But they're forever on edge that one of them will make a sound, and as the film unfolds, naturally, staying under the radar isn't plain sailing.
The second movie in franchise was already supposed to have dropped in March, but has since been delayed until April next year, due to coronavirus.

It will follow the Abbot family they discover they're not the only humans still alive in the post-apocalyptic world, and will answer more questions about where the terrifying killer beasts have come from.
Meanwhile, we don't know much about the third film yet, but Deadline has speculated that instead of following as another sequel it will instead broaden out to look at a dark and apocalyptic world taken over by the monsters, in which a small number of survivors remain, struggling to stay quiet.
The movie currently has a 2022 release date, which means we're pretty much always going to have a Quiet Place movie to look forward to for the next two years.

We'll update you on the cast and plot deets as soon as we know more.
