A New 'Nancy Drew' Detective Film Is Coming To Cinemas Soon

The trailer for the upcoming film Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase has just been released and fans of the detective franchise are very excited.
The film, produced by TV host and comedian Ellen Degeneres, stars It's Sophia Lillis as the famous female sleuth. Ellen wrote on Twitter: "I can't wait for this."
Film bosses said in a statement about the new film: "Teen detective Nancy Drew is back to solve a brand new mystery in Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. Produced by Ellen and starring Sophia Lillis as Nancy, the film follows Nancy and her friends as they set out to solve a mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community."
Reacting to the trailer, one fan said: "I loved the 'Nancy Drew' books when I was a kid and this movie looks great! An awesome role model for girls and boys with an update to an old story."
Another added: "I love 'Nancy Drew' and can't wait for this to come out!"
This film is based on the popular 'Nancy Drew' book series, which has sold at least 80 million copies in more than 45 languages. The franchise was most recently adapted for film in 2007 when actress Emma Roberts picked up the role.
Meanwhile, Sophia Lillis, 16, is most famous for her role as Beverly Marsh in the 2017 horror film It as well as her turn as the young Camille Preaker in HBO's Sharp Objects.
And the skateboard-riding Nancy is this upcoming film has been described as "a bit of an outsider struggling to fit into her new surroundings" so we're sure Sophia will do an excellent job.
Also starring in the film is Zoe Renee (The Quad) and Mackenzie Graham (The Purge) and Laura Slade Wiggins (Shameless).
Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase will be released in the US on Friday 15th March. Pretty52 has contacted Warner Bros. to confirm the official UK release date.
