One of the most talked-about films of 2020 was the controversial Polish erotic drama 365 Days (Dni in Polish). After capturing the imaginations of audiences around the world when it debuted on Netflix last summer, the streaming platform has ordered not one but two sequels.

Michele Morrone and Anna-Maria Sieklucka will be back as Don Massimo Torricelli and Laura Biel respectively. Barbara Białowąs and Tomasz Mandes, the directors behind the first film, will also be back for the sequels, Deadline reports.

The second film, which has not yet been given a release date, will see Laura and Massimo reunited but their new beginning soon becomes complicated because of Massimo's family ties and a new, mysterious man who enters Laura's life and tries to win her heart. Who doesn't love a classic love triangle?!

Viewers will recall the first film in which a Laura, a young Polish woman, is imprisoned by Sicilian gangster Massimo and gives her one year to fall in love with him. The movie's release on Netflix came after its initial release in Polish cinemas in February and it sparked conversations about sexual assault and Stockholm syndrome.

Despite the controversy, the film went on become a huge success for Netflix, mostly due to its graphic and steamy sex scenes between the two leads. Some people went as far to say 365 DNI made Fifty Shades of Grey look PG-rated.

In fact, there were a lot of comparisons between the two erotic flicks. There's bondage. There are steamy shower scenes. There's sex on a yacht. And audiences loved it, so much so it ended up on Netflix's daily top 10 chart in more than 90 countries.

The popularity has led to Netflix taking on 365 DNI as its very own erotic franchise. The sequels will be based on the book trilogy by Polish author Blanka Lipinska, who also wrote the script for the first film.

Both the second and third films in the newly created 365 DNI franchise will be filmed back-to-back. Production will begin in Poland and Italy this month.

Bring it on!
