Two students from Newcastle University who were set up on a blind date by their uni newspaper have given wildly different reviews of each other - with the female student branding her match 'toxic' and 'anti-feminist'.
Sophia Kypriotis, 19, from London, was not impressed by fellow student Danny Tapper, 19, from Aberdeen, during the student paper get-together, which has now been shared and liked nearly 30,000 times on Twitter.
English Literature student Sophia said her partner dressed fairly well and came across as friendly at the 97 & Social cocktail bar in Newcastle upon Tyne - but she very quickly revealed her true feelings.
"It became clear we weren't suited to one another," said Sophie. "He's a Tory and anti-feminist! He also said all he wanted was to get a job, get married and have kids and told me he was very traditional.

"[I] stayed as calm as I could and I tried to educate him on his rather misogynist views. He called feminism 'toxic' which allowed women to behave as 'slags'. I found this very insulting and I was actually very offended."
Rounding off her view of the awkward date, Sophia said: "We definitely won't be meeting again. I was shocked at his archaic, sexiest views. I think it was pretty awful but he messaged me saying he had a pretty good time which I found confusing!"
Meanwhile, Danny gave a very different account of the pairing, saying she had 'good chat' and was 'a top lass'.

"Just because we disagreed on a few things doesn't take away from the fact that she was a nice person and was easy to talk to," he added.
Twitter users were stunned by the painfully awkward get-together.
"Oh my lord. How are schools still producing young men like this," one person commented.
However, Danny responded to the new-found Twitter attention with a long post defending his behaviour on the date.

"This blind date seems to have completely blown up and I would like to set the record straight on a couple of comments that have been misrepresented," he wrote.
"From the start of the date I asked Sophia what she wrote in her profile because I was interested to see what we had been matched on which she simply replied with - 'no tories'. To this I raised my eyebrows because I found it strange that someone would completely write off another person based on their political beliefs.
"I think she noticed this and asked me if I was a Tory to which I responded that my beliefs were more right of centre than left, but I find it hard to support any party in the current political climate."
Danny went on: "I specifically remember saying to Sophia that I believe in equality of the sexes. We were talking about feminism and I was making the point that I don't believe the feminist movement is the same as it was 100 years ago and nowadays it can have quite a toxic image."

So the next time you're despairing at your bad luck on Tinder, I guess you can at least be thankful you weren't on this blind date from hell.
