Netflix's docuseries Tiger King is everything everybody says it is and more.

The show that follows the mulleted gun-toting Joe Maldonado-Passage - aka Joe Exotic - covers living with big cats, polygamy, murder-for-hire plots and sees a woman get her arm ripped off, but it is even more mind-boggling than it sounds on paper.

If you've watched it, you'll know the people in the show are fascinating and completely nuts.

But if like us, you've now finished the seven-part series, you will have a Tiger King shaped hole to fill. But you're in luck, because the documentary actually began after filmmakers listened to a true crime podcast all about Joe, who is now in jail.

The podcast if you've not already heard it is aptly named Joe Exotic: Tiger King and it is hosted and reported by journalist Robert Moor.

Although the podcast came out this March under this name, it was first released last year as the second series in a different podcast called Over My Dead Body. It has since been given its own title and been updated with "exclusive interviews and details about some of the most fascinating characters in this saga," according to Podcast creators Wondery.

And it all began because Robert had gotten lost down a rabbit hole of Joe Exotic (we've all been there), after hearing about Michael Jackson's alligators that had died in a fire. Joe Exotic, according to Forbes, owned those gators.

After the insane snippets about Joe he'd seen online, Robert pitched the idea of a piece about him to magazine editors and away he went to meet Joe.

He spent five days living in a trailer at his zoo in Oklahoma, chatting to, eating with Joe and following his every move around the wildlife park.

He then continued to follow Joe online when he got back home, according to Forbes, watching him spiral and created a podcast about his insane life story, his feud with Carole Baskin and his wildlife crimes, all of which eventually led him on the road to jail for two murder-for-hire plots and numerous wildlife violations.

The podcast is a neutral perspective on Joe, Carole and the mad story and is where this all began. Now you've binged the TV series, this is the perfect antidote to your withdrawals.

You're welcome.
