Ed Sheeran has today announced he is taking another break from music after a "non-stop" two years.

The Perfect singer, 28, took to social media to tell his fans he would "brb" this Christmas Eve, telling them he needed a "breather" following his most recent tour.

Ed wrote: "Hello all. Gonna go on another break again.

"The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it's all over it's time to go out and see some more of the world."

He continued: "I've been a bit non stop since 2017 so I'm just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. I'll be off all social media until it's time to come back.

"To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya - and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing.

"I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I've lived a little more to actually have something to write about."

He signed off the message by sending "lots of love" to his fans.

The singer similarly took some time off back in 2016 to go travelling with his Cherry Seaborn, to whom he is now married.

But after being crowned the number one artist of the decade by the Official Chart Company, it's safe to say he's earned some time to relax.

In the last ten years, Ed has achieved 12 number ones and spent 79 weeks at the top of the charts.

You'll be missed Ed, but with so many hits in the bag, nobody can deny you deserve it...
