This year has truly been the year of the alternative cinema experience, from retro drive-ins to cosy twilight park cinemas and now perhaps the coolest of all: a floating cinema.

Located on London's Regent Street Canal, this month you can grab your friends and watch films such as Grease, Titanic, A Star Is Born, The Lion King, and The Greatest Showman all while floating and dining in your very own boat.

Häagen-Dazs has teamed up with Openaire in London to put on the event for the entirety of September and it will see 128 people seated in 16 boats.

You can watch classics like 'Grease' (
Paramount Pictures)

Six per boat, guests will have the chance to skipper their own vessel through London's canals before mooring at Merchant Square, Paddington to watch a movie.

"If James Bond or Charlie's Angels did cinema it would probably go like this... We've teamed up with GoBoat London to offer you a chance to take the helm and skipper your crew through London's historic canals before mooring up to enjoy the UK's first cinematic experience on water presented by our favourite ice cream Häagen-Dazs," said the ice cream kingpins.

"Try out your sea legs as you set sail towards Little Venice before bobbing back to the best names, big-screen blockbusters cult classics and magical musicals.

"Enjoy these movie phenomenons on the UK's biggest ever river side screen with crystal clear sound streaming straight to your boat or deck chair where you are served an extraordinary indulgence of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Dreamy!"

Movies include classics like Grease, Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Titanic and Moulin Rogue along like new blockbusters from Hustlers to The Lion King, Bohemian Rhapsody and more.

Refreshment wise, you'll have the chance to dine on Italian delights from pasta pop-up RaviOllie, from snacks to big bites such as pasta and garlic bread. You can wash your food down with wine, beer and cocktails and of course, there will be some delicious ice-cream on the go for dessert.

All food will be ordered by scanning a QR code and served directly to your boat or deck chair.

Boat hire for up to six people plus mooring and movie costs £215.00, while it's £27.50 each for any additional passengers (up to a total of eight).

If you just want the boat for the movie it's £150.50 for up to six guest with £22.00 each per addition passenger (again, up to eight).

There are also 100 deckchairs available for £16.50 for people to watch from the shores.

Get booking, because boats are filling up quickly!
