Official Royal Website Makes Huge Mistake When Announcing Baby Archie's Name

Official Royal Website Makes Huge Mistake When Announcing Baby Archie's Name

The official royal website made a huge, glaring error while announcing the name of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's firstborn son yesterday.

The new parents chose to name their baby boy Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, with the moniker being announced on social media rather than when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their son to the world during a photocall earlier in the day.

But royal.uk majorly messed up with the announcement, originally mistaking the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The announcement said that Archie was the first son of Prince William and Kate, not Prince Harry and Meghan.

It read: "Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born at 05:26 on Monday 6 May.

"He is the first child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and is seventh in line to the throne.

"Archie weighed 7lb 3oz and The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth."

While the other social media announcements on Twitter and Instagram were correct, fans were quick to pick up on the error on the royal website before it was swiftly changed.

"You had one job Royal Website Updater," one person tweeted, alongside evidence of the mistake.

While another declared: "So according to the royal website will & kate had archie and harry was present for the birth."

"Someone's getting fired tonight. Official royal website gets the mum and dad wrong. Oops," chimed in a third.

And a fourth posted: "Uh oh. The Royal Family's official website seems a little, err, confused about little Archie Mountbatten-Windsor's parents."

To announce the name on Wednesday afternoon, a photo was shared of Meghan cradling her newborn as she introduced Archie to his great-grandparents, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II.

Grandma Doria Ragland was also in the image, who was present for the birth alongside Harry.

Congratulations again, Meghan and Harry! Or should we say Prince William and Kate...
