Rochelle Humes Bans All Talk About Weight Loss Around Her Children

Rochelle Humes Bans All Talk About Weight Loss Around Her Children

Rochelle Humes has banned talking about weight loss and dieting around her two young girls.

Saturdays popstar Rochelle shares Alaia-Mai, six, and Valentina Raine, two, with husband and former JLS singer Marvin, and she wants them to grow-up with a happy and healthy attitude towards food.

Rochelle is all for body positivity and it seems like that healthy mentality is something she wants to instil in her two daughters, too.

Speaking to the Mirror, the This Morning stand-in presenter revealed she told her own mum off for talking about dieting around her grandchildren.

She recalled the incident, saying: "She was like, 'Oh I need to go on a diet before your birthday'."

"That's fine to say to me, but I don't like that around my girls," Rochelle replied.

And it's not just a ban on diet chat, as Rochelle has other ways to encourage her kids to have a positive attitude towards eating well.

"I'll be like, 'Right, we need to eat this because we need to look after our teeth'," she explained, revealing how she encourages her girls to eat nutritious food.

While many might argue that Rochelle's children are too young to know what dieting is, it seems like the mum-of-two's attitude is the right way forward.

A study in 2018 by Berge et al found that encouraging dieting among children aged two and over can increase unhealthy weight-related behaviour, dieting, and binge eating both during childhood and 15 years later as parents.

Rochelle has previously spoken about how she tries to avoid dieting herself, as one attempt left her feeling "miserable".

She once told Heat magazine: "I've never been that person who's into dieting, because I can't sustain it.

"I did a diet once and it was awful and made me miserable - I would never do it again.

"I'm a fan of eating what you want as long as it's good for you and you know where it's from. I'm really into organic and healthy food, but I've never believed in eating no carbs or no fat."
