Wanting to give their blossoming romance some privacy, the pair, who married in 2018, would go to extreme lengths to avoid attracting any attention.
They did this by going fully incognito - meeting discreetly in a supermarket, disguising their appearances with hats and even pretending not to know each other.
It must be tough dating as one of the world's most recognisable men...
Harry revealed the extent the pair would go to on Dax Shepard's 'Armchair Expert' podcast.
The 36-year-old prince explained: "The first time Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me, we met up in a supermarket in London, pretending we didn't know each other, texting each other from the other side of the aisles.
"There's people looking at me, giving me all these weird looks, and coming up to me and saying 'hi!'"
Harry continued that he would have to message Meghan, 39, from the opposite aisle to make sure he was picking up the right bits for her overnight stay.
"I texted her saying 'is this the right one', and she said 'no you want parchment paper,' and I'm like, 'Where's the parchment paper?' he said.
"I had baseball cap on, looking down at the floor, trying to stay incognito. It's amazing how much chewing gum you see, it's a mess!"
The pair no longer feel the need to go to such extremes to have their privacy. Since having moved to Santa Barbara in 2020, Harry explained they both felt "freer" than when they did over in the UK.
"Living here now I can actually lift my head and actually I feel different, my shoulders have dropped, so has hers, you can walk around feeling a little bit more free," he said.
"I can take Archie on the back of my bicycle. I never had the chance to do that."
Upon moving, both Harry and Meghan decided to stop doing any more official royal duties - and are now pursuing a number of different ventures.
