Harry and Meghan have shared a glimpse inside the christening of their first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram on Saturday to post two adorable photos from inside the event, which took place in the private chapel at Windsor Castle this morning.

While the couple have not revealed the names of Archie's godparents, the official christening photos feature the sisters of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana: Lady Jane Fellowes, 62, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 64.

Also present were Prince Charles, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland.

In the post, the couple thanked the public for being "incredibly supportive" following the arrival of their little boy two months ago.

It comes after Harry and Meghan were accused of keeping their son out of the public eye, despite using a reported £2.4million of taxpayers' money on renovating their new state-of-the-art family home in Windsor.

They wrote: "This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.

"Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.

"Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years.

"The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter.

"It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue."

Archie takes the surname of his great-grandfather, Prince Philip (the Duke of Edinburgh), which he was not allowed to give his own children. Fittingly, Harrison means 'son of Henry'.

The youngster was born at the Portland Hospital in London on 6th May, just two weeks before the first wedding anniversary of his parents. The family are now living at newly-renovated Frogmore Cottage on the Queen's Windsor Castle estate, and have reportedly hired their third nanny in two months.
