British actress Kate Beckinsale has taken to Instagram to update fans of a painful condition which has resulted in her hospitalisation.
The actor, who most recently starred in 'Underworld', was seen lying on a hospital bed with an oxygen tube in her nose as she shared details of the painful experience. "Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry. So thankful to everyone who looked after me," she wrote on Instagram yesterday.
Unfortunately she was then forced to respond to some who accused her of capitalising on the experience by using it for content. To those fans who criticised her choice to take a selfie, the star wrote "My mum took it. In fact, I would not have posted it if we had not noticed someone in a car taking a photo of me leaving the hospital in a wheelchair," she replied.

She went on and explained that she would prefer to share her experience than to endure speculations from made-up stories.
"I agree, it's not a normal impulse," she wrote.
"But it's not normal to be photographed in vulnerable situations by people you don't know either. (If you were interested in knowing the provenance of this, which, you probably are not.)."
The actress has a 19-year-old daughter, Lily Mo Sheen. The pair worked together in the film Underworld: Revolution in 2006.

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops on a woman's ovary, patients can suffer sharp pelvic pain and a swollen tummy, according to the NHS.
The cyst often disappears after a few months but surgical treatment is needed if the cyst is large. Numerous celebrities - including David Spade, Sarah Silverman and Courtney Love - have poured in to offer wishes for a speedy recovery.
We wish Kate well and hope she recovers soon.
