Millie Bobby Brown became emotional in a video after she described being filmed by fans while out with her family.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the Stranger Things star teared up after she explained her strange encounter with a follower.

Describing the experience as "overwhelming", the 16-year-old said a fan had asked to "take a video" of her.

"I said, 'Um, no,'" Millie said. "But why would anyone want to be taken a video of? Of me? It's not like of the both of us."

She went on to entail how the fan had not listened to her request and continued to film her while she was out shopping.

"I was paying and she walked past me and began to video me again - and I said, 'I'm a human being, like, what more can I ask from you?'" Millie recalled.

"It just makes me upset when people try to push the boundary, and I just wish people were more respectful."

The Enola Holmes lead then urged her fans to "show respect for others, no matter who they are, what they do - it's just manners."

Millie then reassured fans that she was "totally fine" in a later video, adding that she felt so uncomfortable in the heat of the moment as she felt "disrespected."

The award-winning actor has seemingly had backing from the Stranger Things writers' team, who took to their own Twitter account to have their say.

"Be kind to others. Find compassion. Wear a mask," they wrote.

"All those things cost zero dollars and take zero energy."

The past month has been particularly painful for the star, who lost her grandmother Ruth to Alzheimer's disease in November.

"There's no words that make sense right now," she wrote at the time. "There's no feeling to pin point. Loss is something so complex and I go through spells where I cant stop crying and then I laugh about all the memories and then sit quiet and try to comprehend what happened."
