Theo Campbell From 'Love Island' Blind In One Eye After Horror Champagne Cork Accident
The professional athlete, 28 - who appeared on the ITV dating show in 2017 - told fans he can no longer see out of his right eye in a social media post from a hospital bed on Tuesday 27th August.
He did not add whether his vision is expected to return.
Theo was rushed to hospital and underwent two operations after a champagne cork flew into his eye, gruesomely splitting it in half.
Taking to Instagram to share a picture with his girlfriend Kaz Crossley - from last year's Love Island - he updated fans on the injury.
"Thanks for all the messages and support I've got over the last couple days they're all very much appreciated," he wrote to his 258,000 followers.
"So yeah basically 2 eye surgeries later after a really unfortunate accident, I've lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half, who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me.."
He added: "But I still have 1 eye left, looking at the bright side of things.
"Thanks for flying out to look after me as well babe. if anyone knows where sells cool eye patches let me know :). #captinhook #thor #fettywap."
Divulging further details of the shocking incident, an insider told OK! Online: "Theo was on holiday in Ibiza enjoying himself when someone popped a bottle of Champagne and the cork flew into his eye.
"People were screaming when they realised what happened and saw the state of his eye. One of the guys said it looked like his eye had exploded.
"Theo was taken to hospital and we haven't heard from him since. Kaz flew out to see him and will be staying with him until he's able to leave and go back to England."
Fans first expressed concern for Theo after he shared a picture of himself in a hospital bed attached to an oxygen mask.
Kaz also alerted many of his condition as she shared a picture of herself kissing her boyfriend, and revealing he'd just come out of surgery.
Pretty 52 has contacted Theo's rep for comment.
We hope he's doing okay!
