Love Island's Laura Anderson has spoken out about her split from Paul Knops, revealing their relationship failed to rekindle after Paul's three-week trip to the states.

The 29-year-old put the split down to the male model's lack of effort to see or speak to her when he returned to the UK.

Despite coming second to Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham on this year's Love Island, Laura and Paul called time on their relationship because of their conflicting schedules.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Laura explained: "When we came out of the villa there was a lot of work related things we did together and then Paul went away for three weeks.

"He went to the Burning Man festival in America and he couldn't get phone signal for a week. I was absolutely fine with that.

"I trusted him not to do things with other girls, which he didn't."

While Laura had expected things to go back to normal on Paul's return, she blames his lack of effort to see her for their relationship coming to an end.

She added: "I was hoping that when he came back we'd spend more time together and build a proper relationship out of the villa. It didn't happen."

Last week, Laura seemingly confirmed the split when she unfollowed her former beau on Instagram and took his name out of her bio.

Justifying the social media snub, she said: "I don't really want to see what he's up to now because I'm not involved in that.

It seems Laura and Paul aren't the only Love Island couple who've decided to call time on their romance as it was revealed yesterday that Jack Fowler and Laura Crane have gone their separate ways.

Also blaming their hectic schedule, Laura told Metro: "Sadly Jack and I have both decided to go our separate ways due to such busy schedules right now and not having the time to spend together.

"I feel truly blessed to have got to share my Love Island experience with him and to have made a friend for life. We will carry on supporting each other on this journey and I can't wait to see where it takes us."
