Is Living Apart Like Gwyneth And Her Husband The Secret To A Happy Marriage?

Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk live in separate homes but spend four nights together as a couple a week, the actress has revealed.

After tying the knot last September, the pair have continued to live in their own homes in Los Angeles, leading to the question: is living apart the key to a happy marriage?

The newlyweds use the remaining three days of the week to spend time with their children from previous relationships - Gwyneth shares Apple and Moses with ex-husband and Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, from whom she "consciously uncoupled" from in 2014.

Meanwhile, Brad has son and daughter, Brody and Isabella, from a prior marriage.

"Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn't change a thing," Paltrow told The Sunday Times.

The mum-of-two says the arrangement allows for "polarity" in her relationship, as taught to her by her intimacy teacher, Michaela Boehm, to keep things fresh.

The set-up works for their blended family of teenage children, which is first and foremost the most important thing. And while some might turn their noses up to the idea of living separately, Gwyneth couldn't care about what they have to say.

"I don't care about the haters," she told The Times. "Haters are irrelevant to me. It's like Brené Brown says: I'm not making this work for people who aren't in the arena. Haters don't mean anything to me because they are not my people."

Gwyneth and Brad's set-up isn't completely unheard of, however. She is part of a growing tribe known as LATs - living apart but together.

David and Victoria Beckham reportedly have their own designated spaces in their homes.

A source previously told US Magazine: "Even when the pair are in their countryside home in Oxfordshire, England, they can be worlds apart. The house has been designed with separate 'his' and 'hers' wings."

"I think they quite like having somewhat separate lives," the source continued. "When you've been married that long, some regular distance does you both good!"

And Sarah Jessica-Parker and Matthew Broderick credit their successful marriage to having "separate schedules", with reports suggesting they purchased adjacent homes in 2016.

Appearing on an episode of Girlboss Radio with Sophia Amoruso, the Sex and the City star explained: "I know this sounds nuts, but we have lives that allow us to be away and come back together.

"His work life takes him here, and mine takes me there. In some ways, I think that that's been enormously beneficial because we have so much to share in a way."

It might not be conventional, but if it works, it works!
