Frankie Bridge posted a heartfelt message to Mollie King on social media thanking her for helping during her struggles with mental health.

She said her former bandmate 'practically held her up' when she was at her lowest and posted a picture of the pair walking arm in arm.

However, Frankie explained that the picture had more meaning as Mollie was actually keeping her up after a morning of struggling with her anxiety and depression.

Posting to Instagram, Frankie wrote: "Most of you will probably look at this picture and just see two good friends walking along holding hands... but the truth is she was practically holding me up... we'd just done a gig that I had forced myself to be 'Frankie from The Saturdays' for.

"I had got to the hotel that morning. Shut all the curtains. Got into bed. Under the covers and sobbed for hours alone. It felt an effort to breathe. To be alive. Let alone to get on a stage. Paint on a smile and dance and sing to happy songs!

"This was one of the first times my anxiety and depression had become so out of control that I couldn't hide it from the people around me anymore... none of us ever really know what others are going through and a picture doesn't always speak a thousand words... especially these days!

"Remember you're not alone and things aren't always what they seem.... [sic]"

In response to the post, Mollie commented: "I remember this day so clearly Frank. It was the first time I saw what you were going through when I found you in your hotel room...and although you felt your weakest I will never forget how strong you were to get up on stage that evening.

"I love you too Frank. You are a real inspiration to everyone around you."

Fans also rushed to share their support for Frankie, and commend her for speaking out about her struggles. One user wrote: "I'm so glad that I can relate to someone who I adore and have supported for years.

"You've just described how I used to feel most days but I didn't have the strength to get up let alone leave the house and perform on stage.

"You're such an inspraition to me @frankiebridge and I hope you continue to get all the things you want from life. Stay strong and I'll try to do the same[sic]."
