Fearne Cotton has taken to Facebook to share a brilliantly important message about maintaining our self worth as we get older.

The TV personality uploaded a candid photo in which she says her "Hairs a bit nesty, I'm pale as f*ck, haven't had time to even think about make up [sic]."

However, she continues to explain "the joy is at 37 my self worth is not steeped in the aesthetic."

Fearne highlights the crucial message that while there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking pride in your appearance, it also doesn't have to define you.

She wrote: "I may love wearing makeup, dressing up for a night out etc but it's not where my personal value lies."

Instead, the mum-of-two says: "It's built on my curiosity, connection with others, passions and pitfalls."

Fearne finished off her inspirational message by adding: "Getting older feels rather brilliant."

This comes after Fearne admitted she and husband Jesse Wood had been "desperately clinging onto [their] marriage".

In the candid interview, she told The Sun how they'd hit a rough patch in the last year when Jesse was "touring relentlessly" and she was trying to keep her own marriage going.

"Love takes hard work - and no one wants to hear that," she explained.

The couple's issues came to a head after a two hour screaming match led Fearne to say the "love has gone," five years after tying the knot.

However, Fearne and Jesse have worked hard to repair their relationship, with Fearne uploading a gushing post to Instagram on Friday.

"Today we had a rare moment of space without our dreamy kiddos screaming at us and we chatted up a beautiful storm," she wrote.

"After 8 years together we learned new stuff about each other. Never stop wanting to learn new stuff about your partners and friends.

"There's so much to explore. He's now bored of me and reading the back pages but my god I love this man @jessejameswood".
