Dolly Parton has announced she will be reading bedtime stories to the world in her new YouTube series, 'Goodnight With Dolly'.

The 'Jolene' singer has revealed that every Thursday for the next 10 weeks, she'll be settling down to read a bedtime story from different children's books.

In a clip for the upcoming YouTube series, Dolly says: "Hello, I'm Dolly Parton the 'book lady' from the Imagination Library and I want you to join me April 2nd when I start 'Goodnight with Dolly'.

"I'm going to be reading some stories from the Imagination Library."

In the clip, Dolly, 74, can be seen tucked up in bed in her jammies, book and glasses in hand. Each book will be carefully selected from Dolly's Imagination Library - a literary programme set up in 1995 which has donated more than 135 million books to children.

"This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right," said Dolly.

"I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think."

The first story on Dolly's list is The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. Tune in to the channel on 2nd April at 7pm EST (which is 11pm in the UK) to listen to the tale.

Others include There's a Hole in the Log on the Bottom of the Lake by Loren Long, Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, I Am a Rainbow and Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton, Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon by Patty Lovell, Pass It On by Sophy Henn, Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen, Max & The Tag-Along Moon by Floyd Coopera and Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña.

We can't wait to settle down for one of these after a long day of working 9-5...
