Coronation Street's Abi Franklin might not have found love on the cobbles, but the actress behind the troubled mechanic is reportedly dating one of her co-stars.

Joe Duttine, who portrays Tim Metcalfe on the beloved soap, and Sally were spotted holding hands while arriving at the Coronation Street summer party last week.

Reports in the Sun suggest that they've been on a few secret dates together, and have revealed their fledgling romance to the rest of the Corrie cast.

While their scenes together on the ITV soap are limited, it looks like they are a match made in heaven and have already 'fallen' for each other. Oh, you guys!

A source told the tabloid: "Both Joe and Sally had been single for a while and just met at the right time in their lives.

"Sally thinks Joe is a funny and caring guy and he's really fallen for her, too."

The insider added: "They've now told their castmates and everyone thinks it's a match made in heaven."

It is believed that Sally and Joe already knew one another before Corrie as they both starred on Shameless.

Joe was cast on the cobbles back in 2013 as Tim, and he's had some pretty dramatic storylines in recent weeks, including plenty around the evil Pat Phelan.

His character is currently caught up in a huge scam, after his wife Sally Metcalfe accidentally handed over £40,000 to conman Duncan.

Things are reportedly going to take a turn for the worst when the police catch up with Duncan, who claims that Sally was part of the scam, and they've been sleeping together. Tim sees red, and beats him up, meaning there's bound to be consequences.

Sally's character, Abi, has been trying to get her two kids back, who were taken into care over their mum's drug use.

Tim and Sally aren't the only Coronation Street stars who have kindled a romance off the cobbles, as Nicola Thorpe (Nicola Rubinstein), and Charlie De Melo, who plays Imran Habeeb, are also an item.

They were spotted having a little smooch at the British Soap Awards back in June this year.
