Brooklyn Beckham has received criticism from a women's charity after a photo of him with his hand around fiancé Nicola Peltz's neck was shared on Instagram.

In the photo, posted on Nicola's account on 6th September, Brooklyn, 21, can be seen playfully holding his 25-year-old fiancé's throat as she laughed while at a dinner.

She captioned it "tb to prom night" to which Brooklyn commented underneath: "My amazing girl" with a love heart emoji.

Now, women's charity IKWRO Women's Rights Organisation has slammed the photo, calling the pose "disgusting" and calling on the eldest Beckham child to make a public apology.

The charity's founder Dianna Nammi said: "It is disgusting and I think with serious matters no one should allow themselves to make a joke."

The head of the charity - which provides support to Middle Eastern and Afghan women - continued: "This is very important, an organisation like ours has seen so many women become victims of honour-based violence, domestic violence, forced marriage - and they have been strangled by their own family and they have been killed by husbands, partners or boyfriends."

She went on: "So we are talking about real life, even if it's a joke, it is disgusting in my opinion. I think it should be banned from Instagram this kind of picture. He is 21 so mature enough to know it is a very serious matter and I think he has to apologise openly and tell people that he made a huge mistake.

"We are talking about living people - it is not a doll to play with, so I think this is sending a very wrong message, a very dangerous message to young people especially."

Nammi also called for the Beckham family to address the "dangerous" image publicly.

"It is so dangerous and his position is so important and not only him but his family need to discuss it to say something in the media that they are not that approving of that, because of their position especially," she said.

"It is a really bad picture and he has to apologise to the public for such a dangerous message to the world and his followers."

Similarly, in a more recent photo also posted on Nicola's Instagram, the actress can be seen with her hand around Brooklyn's neck as he shaved.

Brooklyn and Nicola became engaged back in July after eight months of dating.

The son of legendary footballer David and fashion designer Victoria Beckham announced the happy news on Instagram.

Revealing he popped the question in late June, Brooklyn, 21, wrote: "Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes xx.

"I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day. I love you baby xx."

Tyla has reached out to Brooklyn's reps for comment.
