Hollywood actress Brie Larson took on anyone daring to tell her to 'smile more' in an epic way, after the trailer for the Captain Marvel movie dropped earlier this week.

Brie is portraying Carol Denver aka Captain Marvel in the film, and she absolutely owned it. But as is the case with pretty much everything nowadays, some people only had negative things to say.

A number of fans decided to chime in with their own unwelcome comments, piping up that Brie 'should smile more' in the promotional material for the franchise.

In fact, some even went as far to say that her acting in the trailer was 'stiff and wooden'. Um, okay.

And it didn't stop there either, as things got even creepier when one Twitter user took it upon themselves to Photoshop a giant smile on her face in loads of screenshots taken from the Marvel trailer.

But hitting back at all the trolls putting in their two cents, Brie shared the best response to all the unnecessary comments flooding social media from the critics.

The actress reposted a story that featured Marvel movie posters with smiles edited onto all of the male characters, giving everyone a clear cut perspective on what they were asking.

The images Brie shared look pretty uncomfortable and weird, showing just how dumb it is to ask a female character in the movie to the same.

And then her adoring fans went even step further to support Brie's point and shut up the haters once and for all, by sharing their own mock-up images of creepy superheroes smiling from ear to ear.

Others backed her up on Twitter, with one sharing: "Uhh, I've heard SO many dudes say, 'Brie Larson doesn't look like she's having 'fun'. She's too serious.' Translation, 'Pretty girls should smile more" Fellas, please be mindful that these comments reinforce gender stereotypes. Help change culture expectations."

And somebody else echoed: "If you agree with the people saying Brie Larson doesn't smile enough... your a sexist a**hole. When was the last time iron man, captain America, Thor, spidey, or any man smiled in a teaser photo or trailer? Their supposed to look serious."
