Caroline Flack's ex boyfriend Andrew Brady has spoken out for the first time since the TV presenter's death.
The 29-year-old, who became engaged to the Love Island presenter in 2018 after six months of dating, posted a statement on Instagram following Caroline's tragic suicide on Saturday.
In it, he hit out at the tabloid press, the paparazzi and members of her team for partaking in a "witch hunt" following news of her arrest last year.
"I loved Caroline as much as you and I saw the real her," he said. "I hope you can forgive me. I can't forgive myself."
He added: "Caroline had amazing people in her life and they didn't deserve this. None of them do.
"I'm so sorry Caroline I tried. Christine [Caroline's mum] I tried... she deserved better than this. I'm so [sorry] you have to deal with this Lewis [Burton]. I am. I just wish I could have been better.
"I love you Caroline Flack and think I always will. Rest in peace Carrie. I love you x"
The troubled TV presenter, who was due to appear in court next month charged with assaulting her boyfriend, took her own life in her London apartment on Saturday.
Brady, who starred in The Apprentice, left London to travel Australia in 2018 after the pair's break-up, where he now resides.
At the time, he wrote: "Feeling as low as I did was the motivation I needed to rid myself of a highly toxic situation and leave on a one way flight to Australia. I am so grateful I left and got away.
"However, I am deeply saddened to see my 2018 is looking rather similar to someone else's 2019... a leopard never changes her spots. The truth will come out eventually."
At the time of her arrest in December, Andrew wrote that he was "not surprised" by her arrest, sharing a copy of what appeared to be an NDA he'd signed while they were engaged.
Alongside the image, he wrote: "#abusehasnogender" and turned off comments on the Instagram post.
Since her death, tributes have been flooding in for the presenter.
