The ex-girlfriend of footballer Aaron Connolly is getting the ultimate break-up revenge by confirming she's jetting off to the Love Island villa this year, just two weeks before the show is set to start.

Lucina Strafford dated the Brighton & Hove Albion winger for two years, until he cheated on her during lockdown, reports The Sun.

Apparently, Lucinda and Aaron, both 21, have been getting close again over the last few weeks and he's not happy about her going on Love Island.

If cast rumours are true, the footballer's ex could be joining Lucy Plunkett, Holly Ramsay, Toluwa Adepeju. Aimee-Rose Francis, Harley Benn, Alisha LeMay, James Price, Alexis Bailey, Ellis Iyayi and Jay Munro in the villa.

Here are a few things we know about Lucinda Strafford.

She was an air hostess

Much like season 4's Laura Anderson, Lucinda is no stranger to travel. Before the pandemic hit, she was an air hostess for British Airways.

Her Instagram is full of snaps of her popping up in beautiful destinations such as St Lucia, Mauritius and The Maldives - to name a few.

When the pandemic hit though, Lucinda was made redundant.

Lucinda hopes Love Island will bring fame and fortune

After being made redundant by British Airways, Lucinda decided she wanted to become an influencer and work on launching her own fashion brand - The Luxe Range.

Her Instagram following is already at a healthy 32,000 followers and she's modelled for big fashion brands such as ASOS, EGO and Pretty Little Thing.

A friend told The Sun, "She's going in [Love Island] to plug her business. She wants fame and money - she's always wanted to be a celebrity. She's trying to become an influencer, she wants to do it for her business."

Could Lucinda take Molly-Mae's title as the most successful Islander? Only time will tell.

She was asked to be on Love Island before

Lucinda was reportedly approached by the Love Island casting team before, but she wasn't willing to give up her jet setting day job to be in the villa.

Now that she's no longer an air hostess, nothing is holding her back.

A friend told The Sun: "She's had a really lengthy psych evaluation so it looks like she's going in" (all contestants now have to go through a psychological evaluation before going on Love Island, after three deaths from the show, including Caroline Flack's).

Could Aaron Connelly still have feelings for her?

Lucinda and Aaron have been hanging out together recently and a source told The Sun the £1 million a year footballer isn't happy about her going on the hit ITV 2 show.

This leads us to believe there might still be a spark there - for him anyway.

"They've seen each other, been at each other's houses and had dinner," the source said.

"But over the last couple of days she has told a few people she's going to be on Love Island and now Aaron knows and isn't very happy. They have argued about her going in."

"Aaron's really upset and really annoyed about it. They were together for two years and then broke up," they added.

Lucinda likes to party

Lucinda's TikTok channel, which has more than 72,000 followers, is filled with selfie videos of her living it up with mates, cocktail in hand.

She'll be down for those guest DJs in the Love Island villa then!
