Love Island viewers are loving Hugo Hammond so far this year. He's the first contestant with a visible disability to come on the show - and that certainly isn't holding him back.

ITV said it's really ramped up its efforts to bring a more diverse Love Island cast this year. And the producers have been on the hunt for a contestant with a visible disability as part of this promise.

Our bets were on para-athlete Milly Pickles, but now Hugo, who was born with clubfoot, has filled that vacancy.

Clubfoot is a condition you can be born with which means one or both of your ankles are turned inwards.

Hugo has had several operations to correct his clubfoot and says his disability is only really noticeable when he's walking barefoot, as he walks slightly on his tip-toes due to having short achilles heels.

Here are a few more things we know about the new Islander.

He's played for the England cricket team

The new Islander has travelled all over the world playing for the England Physical Disability squad. What an inspiration he must be to his students.

Hugo comes from somewhat of a cricketing family and has even played alongside his older brother in an international T20 game, according to his Instagram posts.

He likes to party

It's obvious from the many photos of him out out and living it up on lads' holidays that Hugo, like any self-respecting university student, likes to party.

He's not the only Islander who likes to live it up either.

Hugo has been single for a while

Hugo admitted he's found it really hard to date during the pandemic and he hopes being in the villa will change his luck.

"I saw it as an opportunity to have an amazing fun summer and put myself back out there," he said.

He's a family man

Hugo's Instagram profile doesn't have that many photos, but the ones that are there show he loves to be around friends and family.

Hugo's posted several photos of him with his parents and his older brother, so it's likely whoever he couples up with will have to be liked by his family too, or it could be a deal-breaker.

What is Hugo's instagram?

Hugo has over 19,000 followers on Instagram and you can find him at @hugo_hammond_.

Love Island comes to ITV Hub on Monday 28th June at 9pm. The episodes are made available on BritBox the following day.
