Binky Felstead Says She 'Lost A Lot Of Friends' When She Became A Mum

Made In Chelsea's Binky Felstead has opened up on motherhood and the realities of losing friends as a new parent.

Made In Chelsea star, Binky Felstead has opened up about how she "lost a lot of friends" when she became a mum.

The TV favourite, who is a mother to two children (Wulfric, two months, India, four) said that while motherhood has given her a "massive sense of purpose", it has also posed some social challenges.

Looking back, she says that when she first welcomed India at the age of 26, she felt overwhelmed and at times left out, because none of her friends were in the same place in their lives.

“I was the first of my friendship group [to have a baby] so it was quite an isolating and lonely time. All my friends were going to parties, wearing little dresses and crop tops, and I just felt so rank," Binky told The Independent.

"I felt tired and emotional, I didn’t feel like myself, I was confused, I didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t really ask anyone…”

Whilst Binky said her closest friends have stuck by her, she adds: “I think I lost a lot of friends, I had my core group of girlfriends still, but a lot of the girls didn’t understand.

“I messaged one of them, saying, ‘I’m really sorry I can’t come to your birthday party, I’m just feeling so rubbish’.

"I was seeing all these messages going back and forth on a WhatsApp group, saying, ‘I’m going to wear heels, my tight dress, we’re going to take selfies’...

"And I thought, ‘Oh my God, that sounds like my idea of hell’."

Binky said that following the decision, she and her friend didn't talk "for years". However, recently, a few of her former friends got back in touch, and told her: "I’m really sorry, I didn’t really get what you were going through".

“That happened quite a lot, and actually I didn’t really mind," she added. "Life changes so much [when you have children] and for me, for the better.”

Binky and her husband Max became parents to son Wolfie at The Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital on June 4th.
