Taking to Instagram on Sunday evening, Ashley shared an image of his baby daughter, alongside the caption: "Six months ago today I lost my baby, my best friend, my hero and the love of my life.

"I would give up the remaining years of my life to live those eight months again... I would give them up simply just to hold you or kiss you one more time. My world will never be the same without you champ.

"Beautiful - Strong - Courageous - Special! Azaylia Diamond Cain I miss you more than words can explain and I will love you with all of my heart forever!"

Meanwhile, mum Safiyya Vorajee also shared a heartfelt tribute to her daughter, and took to her Instagram Stories to share a collection of photographs.

"Six months ago you fell asleep and went to heaven. My heart is broken I miss you.

"My hero. My inspiration. My baby girl. My heart is so heavy everyday the pain I feel is indescribable. We will always be together. Mummy Azaylia Daddy."

Azaylia suffered from a rare form of leukaemia which she was diagnosed with at just eight weeks old.

She was sent home earlier in April to enjoy her last few days after doctors at Birmingham hospital told the couple she had cancerous tumours running through her whole body, and there was nothing more they could do to treat her condition.

Ashley and Safiyya had hoped to take their daughter to Singapore to undergo lifesaving CAR T-cell therapy for her cancer, even fundraising over £1.5 million to make the trip.

But they were then dealt another devastating blow, and told by the facility that the treatment was no longer an option, because the blood cancer was so rare.

Ashley and Safiyya since set up the Azaylia Cain foundation, which launched on 31st August.
