Moment Couple Got Engaged During Adele Event

Moment Couple Got Engaged During Adele Event

Our hearts can't take it!

Adele's highly-anticipated CBS special finally aired in the US last night (14th November), and one moment in particular had fans crying into their sofa cushions.

The global superstar took to the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles to perform her greatest hits, as well as tracks from new album 30, in front of a seriously star-studded audience.

She recruited the audience to set the romantic scene for the couple, saying she wanted to make their "date night really, really memorable".

Explaining the situation to the crowd, Adele admitted that she'd "arranged a surprise for a lovely guy called Quentin". The future fiancé had reached out to a "now fake" show (secretly orchestrated by Adele) for help with his magical moment.

Quentin had been with his girlfriend, Ashley, for seven years. The singer commented on the length of time the two had been together, saying "seven years is like, normally you say yes or you say no to life together [...] seven year itch".

Ashley is a dedicated vegan chef, who took a seemingly rare night off for "date night" with Quentin. Her boyfriend hadn't told her about the Adele concert, so she had no idea she was about to get proposed to in front of the entire country.

The star-studded crowd included Lizzo, Leonardo DiCaprio and Gordon Ramsey. [

The singer instructed the stage crew to "turn the lights down" and "be really bloody quiet". Quentin led a blindfolded Ashley down the aisle towards the stage as she asked, "what are we doing, Quentin?"

As the lights went up and her blindfold came off, Quentin made a super-sweet speech for her while down on one knee.

"I want to thank you for being so patient with me," he said. "I'm really proud of you, and every day you blow my mind."

He continued. "Ashley, this has been a long time coming. Will you marry me?"

Just when we thought our hearts couldn't take any more, Adele's signature song Make You Feel My Love faded in, filling the hall.

Quentin and Ashley then sat beside Lizzo to enjoy the song properly.

While the CBS special doesn't yet have a UK air date, it's not long until Adele's ITV special - which airs on Sunday 21st November.
