We Regret To Inform You ZigZag Hair Partings Are In Fashion

The noughties are truly haunting us.

You might remember the zigzag hair parting from the nineties and noughties that ended the age-old question of where to part your hair. It was the easy way of saying: "Yeah, I'm so cool that even my scalp deserves to have a fashion moment."

Well, your scalp will get to have another go at being the most stylish thing in the room as the zigzag/lightning bolt hair parting is back in fashion.

Ariana Grande has recently donned the look for her R.E.M. beauty campaign and trendsetters like Bella Hadid have been fierce advocates for the lightning bolt parting comeback.

But even though we initially roll our eyes at another Y2K resurrection, after seeing celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens rock the look, we're kind of wondering if it's worth embracing the trend and furiously combing at our scalp to make a statement (for anyone taller than us who would actually get to see the parting in all its glory).

Are you with us in joining the zigzag partings movement? If so, you should probably brush up on your skills.

Watch the TikTok below for how to nail the look:

If you also need some inspo for how to recreate the nostalgic look, take a gander at how stars of the moment rocked it back in the day. For example, Christina Aguilera at the 2000 Grammys truly embodied an award-winning look.

Mandy Moore also showed us how it's done in a not-at-all cringey throwback where her intense zigzags even came with red crystals glued onto each point of her parting, making the look really sparkle.

While Scary Spice showed us how it was done with often using the zigzag to accessorise her iconic hair cones, Sporty Spice also knew how to adopt the look but in a more subtle way, as to give just a wink to the trend of the time.

Whether you rhinestone it or make more of a gesture to the trend, maybe it's finally time to roll over for a nostalgic fashion comeback and get that parting moving from left to right.
