For some people jumping out of a plane sounds like an absolute thrill, while others see it as their worst nightmare, but what about jumping out of a plane without a parachute?

A skydiver made history by becoming the first person to ever jump out of a plane at 25,000 feet without a parachute and survive.

Now, footage has emerged of Luke Aikins making his jump and quite frankly, it's terrifying.

The Texas-native was taken in a small propeller driven aircraft before diving out without any safety measures in place except a giant net waiting for him at the bottom.

The skydiver is now in the Guinness Book of Records for being the only person to ever attempt such a feat, but does anyone really fancy challenging him on that?

The whole thing was captured in some pretty dizzying footage that was shared by radio host Ken Rutkowski, who tweeted out the whole terrifying skydive.

After landing in the huge net - which must have been something of a relief - Luke said: "I'm almost levitating, it's incredible.

"This thing just happened. I can't even express how I feel."

It's hard to imagine that anyone else would be brave enough to give it a go and challenge Luke at his title, but hey - if he survived it then so can we.

Having said that, Luke is actually a skydiving and BASE (Bridge, Antenna, Span and Earth) jumper and is, ironically enough, a safety and training advisor for the United States Parachute Association.

You'd assume that the first rule set by the safety and training advisor would be 'don't jump out the aeroplane without your parachute', but each to their own.

Luke has worked on stunts for the Iron Man movies and was one of the people that helped fellow stuntman Felix Baumgartner prepare for his record breaking jump from the edge of space.
