Winter is well and truly upon us. But for most of us, the days of making snowmen and sledding are truly behind us. And as the UK remains frozen in icy and snowy conditions and a 'snow bomb' hits some areas and causes major disruption to our commutes - many of us face the bone-chilling, yet tedious task of de-icing our windscreens.
One clever motorist revealed his quick, handy and hand-warming trick for defrosting his car's windscreen using nothing more than a sandwich bag filled with warm water. And what's better than a makeshift hot water bottle for your hands when you first venture out into the morning frost? Nothing. That's what.
UK motorist Daniel Harris took to Facebook to share a video demonstrating his trick. It has since gone viral, amassing more than 20 thousand comments from impressed Facebook users.

Rather than waste his money and risk losing the feeling in his fingers using a traditional de-icer, this savvy driver instead filled a plastic food bag with warm water and slid it across their windscreen. It appears to clear half of the glass in under 30 seconds.
The caption read : "Hot water in a food bag and bam you've got a de icer and a hand warmer. Works a treat, and it's fast!"
But Daniel was quick to add a disclaimer to his previous caption to avoid people who saw it having an accident: "I used warm tap water so I could safely hold it and lower the risk of cracking my screen. The de-icer cans are so cold in the morning and thisi way keeps u nice and toasty!!! Oh and yes it was ice not condensation. I know it looks i t but try it and you won't be disappointed."

With temperatures set to drop over the next few weeks, not only could this simple solution win you back valuable snooze minutes in the morning, it could also save you from potential fines. Drivers who fail to defrost their windscreens could be slapped with a potential £60 fine and three points on their licence.
Facebook users who saw the video were quick to react to the seemingly simple tip.
One said: "I need one of those! Better than using my bank card"
Another said: "I bet I'd find a bag with holes in the bottom"
Others claimed they've been doing it for years: "People shocked at this working its p*ssing hot water touching ice of course its going to work! People are been doing this since cave man days f*s. mostly rolling a bottle about but same principle . Some dumb founded people around."
