Selena Gomez has shed some light on why her kiss with Cara Delevingne in the new season of Only Murders In The Building might have felt 'awkward' or 'uncomfortable' for viewers.
The show's second season launched on Disney+ this week, delighting fans as Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) re-launch their true crime podcast while trying to clear their names after being framed for a murder they didn't commit.
However, when a new romance sparked between Mabel and artist Alice Banks (Cara Delevingne) this season, some found themselves wincing at their TV screens. Watch the viral scene here:
In episode two of the new season, Mabel visits Alice at her art gallery to discuss her future as an artist and, subsequently, destroy a sculpture that Alice has made of her in the name of self care.

Moments after chopping the artwork to pieces with an axe, a revitalised Mabel marches up to Alice and goes straight in for a kiss, all while Billie Eilish's 'You Should See Me In A Crown' plays.
On paper, the scene should have been a winner. But when the episode dropped on Tuesday (28 June), viewers agreed the moment was quite hard to watch.
"This is the stiffest most awkward kiss i’ve ever seen in my life bye," tweeted one fan.
"Starting to think all the reviews lied about the chemistry between Selena and Cara cus those 4sec told me enough..." complained a second.
However, it turns out the kiss between Mabel and Alice may well have been awkward on purpose, as one fan pointed out.

Sharing a screenshot from an interview with Selena Gomez, the Twitter user wrote: "To be clear about all the comments about Mabel (Selena) and Alice (Cara) kissing in Only Murders In The Building: the kiss WAS supposed to be the way it was, it wasn't supposed to be a kiss that made Mabel comfortable easily."

In the screenshot Selena is quoted explaining that her character Mabel "has been so repressed, sexually. And not because she's ashamed or anything but rather her trauma. She has great difficulty with intimacy with men and women etc. She's really determined to stop those things from defining her. I really enjoyed exploring those nuances relating to her mental health."
While, in general, fans of the series are thrilled to see Mabel in a happy relationship this season, some viewers have already expressed concern that her new love interest Alice could possibly be behind the show's latest killing.
