Jessica Biel has revealed how she bathed in 20lbs of Epsom salt prior to appearing at the Met Gala on Monday (6 May).

In fact, singer Tyla revealed it took 'hours' to perfect her sculpted sand look, meanwhile Kim Kardashian has previously spoken about the process of preparing for the exclusive fashion event.

Prior to this year's Met, Jessica provided a glimpse into how she prepares, explaining how she soaked in 20lbs of Epsom salt for 30 minutes in hot water the evening before.

"I know some people like to party before the Met Ball and party all weekend and all of the things," said Jessica.

"I have total respect for that. This is what I do to get ready for the Met Ball."

Jessica then counted five bags of Epsom salt, which totalled 20lbs. She can then be seen pouring in each bag, explaining: "With water as hot as you can take it, 30 minutes soak, night before, drink tons of water."

After sharing the video, people were desperate to know why Jessica had chosen to bathe in so much salt.

One person commented on the video: "Can you explain why so many bags? What are the benefits? Genuinely curious."

While another said: "Wait…. Why??? Why that much??"

And a third added: "The way she didn’t explain the benefits of using that much is a crime."

And a fourth added: "Not me wondering if two cups, twice the recommended amount, was overkill."

Epsom salt is often used in baths, but most people add a sprinkle rather than a bucketload.

According to Holland & Barrett, an Epsom salt bath can soothe tired muscles and help relieve dry skin.

They explain that the main benefits of Epsom salts are supporting the body's magnesium levels, helping with relaxation, helping to make the skin look smoother and relaxing the muscles.

"Soaking away in an Epsom salt bath can help soothe tired muscles and, because it contains magnesium, it’s also believed to help relieve dry skin," they explain.

"This is due to the fact that the magnesium is absorbed by our skin as we bathe."
