Festive season staple Winter Wonderland has received backlash after various visitors complained about prices at the annual event.

For many London-based residents, Christmas doesn’t start until you’ve taken the annual trip to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

The ticketed Yuletide event hosts over 100 rides and attractions, an iconic ice rink, and numerous outdoor bars and restaurants.

Of course, regular attendees will also be familiar with the Bavarian Village, Carousel Bar and nighttime entertainment.

Unfortunately, you can put a price on fun and many visitors have taken to social media to blast the event’s prices.

Winter Wonderland has set up shop in Hyde Park for the festive season.

For starters, a peak-time ticket to the sixteenth edition of Winter Wonderland could set you back by £7.50.

A standard entry ticket is priced at £5, while the official website suggests that your ticket could be free if you get there between 10am and 2pm on a weekday.

Elsewhere, a few spins around the ice rink will cost you £12.50 in off-peak times, and £16.50 in peak times.

However, many social media users have been complaining about feeling the pinch when it comes to purchasing food and drink from various stalls.

Nae - a TikTok user who goes by @na3na3inthehouse - gave fans a rundown of exactly how much her family trip cost at Winter Wonderland this month.

In a video, she claimed that a bag of roasted chestnuts cost them £5, and that two pots of macaroni cheese came to £19.80 in total.

Elsewhere in the video, the influencer claimed that a luxury croissant from Crome London set her back by £8.50, while a box of fish and chips was £14.

As well as food, Nae's family spent money playing various games and went on rides together.

In total, her family visit to Winter Wonderland - including food, entry and games- cost a staggering £192.35 all together.

In the comments section of the now-viral video, one TikTok user wrote: “£5 for chestnuts!!!!!!”

A second said: “£7.50 each [for entry] I remember when it was free.”

“Overly hyped and crazy high prices. Rather go abroad,” wrote another user.

Angelina, another TikTok user, posted a similar video and claimed that she paid £8 for a ‘famous hot dog’.

She said: “I go the famous hot dog for £8 next. But hold guys - I was in shock.

“I mean look at this silly sausage - it looked so clapped.”

She added that the sausage was ‘so porky’ and likened it to ‘munching on Peppa Pig’ before rating it a low 3/10.

In the comments section of the video, one TikTok user said: “I love how (sic) you’re actually a reviewer that also considers the prices when criticising food.”

Another said: “Thank you for being realistic. It’s not as good as it seems. It’s overly expensive. I’m still going this year.”

“So expensive for normal stuff! Can’t believe people pay for these things,” said a third.

A Hyde Park Winter Wonderland spokesperson:

“We understand budgets are tight and strive to create a magical experience for all our visitors, with the best attractions and something for everyone to enjoy at a range of price points, including various free activities and entertainment. Despite rising event costs, our entry ticket prices have remained the same since 2021, we offer free mid-week off-peak entry tickets and a Family Day with free entry for all on 1 January and have benchmarked pricing in line with other temporary events and winter attractions in London.

“We encourage visitors to book advanced tickets online for the best prices and deals, including our new £25 Santaland Unlimited Ride Pass with free entry and unlimited access to over 15 rides, or free entry when you spend £25 per person on attractions, rides, games and food, and more.”
